Transformant is a multichannel formant filter effect that processes input signals using vowel sounds. It shapes sound across the stereo field with separate controls per channel and routes the signal through distortion. It performs best on spectrally rich sources such as sawtooth bass or drums.
Key features:
- Vowel control interpolates between A, E, O, I, U sounds
- Speed sets oscillator rate for vowel modulation; Depth sets modulation intensity (speed at 0 fixes the vowel)
- Sync links left and right channel effect settings
- Distortion section includes Drive amount, Crush (bit crushing or waveshaping), and Post mix option to place distortion before or after formant processing
Available as VST2 and VST3 plugins for Windows 7 and up and macOS; also as Audio Unit for macOS. Linux support requires building from source.
